The E Team software grew out of a project for DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) to develop a wireless Internet-based tactical command and control system.
After the 1994 Northridge Earthquake, government agencies and private companies that rarely dealt with each other were forced to communicate. It was realized that the technology developed for the military could be tremendously useful for civilian applications where communication and collaboration were required. The E Team concept was born.
In 1996, the Clinton Administration announced the Plowshares program, providing funding for the conversion of military technology to civilian use. The tactical Internet-based command and control E Team system was the first technology selected for the program.
The company then began to focus solely on emergency and event management in 1998. With the help of emergency management veterans from the City of Los Angeles, the breakthrough E Team product was launched that same year and quickly earned widespread praise for the advances it brought to Emergency Operations Centers throughout the U.S.
Today, the industry-leading E Team solution has been the platform of choice for responding to many of the most significant events in our nation’s recent history.
E Team’s phenomenal success can be attributed to the solid principles on which it was built:
- Ease of implementation and use
- Interoperability among agencies and groups
- Anytime, anywhere accessibility
- A browser-based environment for information sharing
- Total redundancy for maximum reliability
- Hierarchical access and control of information
- Support for the Incident Command System (ICS)
